Dai Sharkey Project one 22.06.12

Dai Sharkey Project one 2012
Friday 22nd June

Went to studio, Mc d’s coffee in hand once again and got ‘anymore’ up to listen to. It already sounded great but I wanted some changes which I thought were improvements. Swapped some vocal parts about, added some mixing touches and finished in an hour or two.
We then hit ‘Rock paper scissors’, it sounded great once again but still tweaked it and mixed a bit more.
Before leaving, Rich burnt the 5 songs onto a disk for me to listen to during the 10 days off.

Sunday 25th
I’m doing some writing this week and some filming for the documentary as well as starting a music vid for ‘RPS’, this is going to be fun.

Tuesday, got on with mixing ‘no more’, at the end of the day we got the track sounding banging but the vocals were letting it down badly….plan for Thursday, new vox.

Wed. Met up with Amy Wadge. Had a real focused session….talked about my schizophrenia, possible Branding and promotional tools as well as giving me great encouragement after listening to a couple of my tracks in ‘1st mix’ state.
She helped me find the direction of the next step, in preparation for finishing the album. The idea is to have everything in place so as soon as the album is completed we have industry people to play it to.
Much to do.

Thursday. In studio with Rich. By 11am I was playing Congas and mixing drum tracks. After lunch re-done all the vocals on ‘No more’. By 4pm we had an amazing track, almost finished.
Had a listen to ‘anymore’, won’t take long to mix that tomorrow then off again for 10 days. July here we come.

Just realised how consistently inconsistent I am at keeping this journal. I last ended my thoughts on heading to the studio a week ago. Since then my personal life has been utter madness and was joined by the musical chaos too.
Monday 11th I entered the studio glad to work on ‘he said’, took my daughter, Sophie with me. She took pics and tweeted them; she should follow me ‘round more.
Tuesday 12th, loads of personal shit to grapple with.
Wednesday 13th, more work with Rich on ‘he said’, it sounds amazing, it’s all really coming together now.
Thursday 14th, went to play at Beach break live, what a palaver. Storms blew the stage away and I sat in the car for the majority of the time. Daz and Annie came and did some filming…in the car…it was fun.  I must comment that I was not impressed with the way the festival is run/organised, so many bad features, although on the plus side the security were great.
Sunday – fathers day….

Monday 18th…mixed ‘I love you’ and part mixed ‘honey’
Back at the grindstone tomorrow…ha.ha….wish this could be a way I could make a living…..I can almost cope with some of this….haha…
